What to do after the accident? How soon should I make a claim?

If you have recently been injured in a car accident, it is important to contact your auto insurance provider to file the report and get the claim started. Once you have done this, contact Toronto Healthcare Clinic and make an appointment. Your first visit, we will evaluate your function, pain, severity of injury, and prescribe the appropriate treatment program. We can help with all aspects of treatment, including filling out paper work, claim submission, imaging, and medical services as required.

Do I need a referral from my family doctor prior to beginning therapy?

No. You don’t need a referral from your family doctor to start treatment at our facility. However, if you do have a referral, please bring it with you on your first visit.

After the accident, the insurer has sent me some forms to complete. Can someone help me fill them out?

Definitely yes. We can efficiently help filling out paper work and claim submission to your insurer. This enables you to obtain faster access to your treatment and also helps to shorten overall recovery time.

My insurance company has sent me to an insurer preferred clinic? Do I have a choice as to which clinic to attend?

Yes, choosing a healthcare facility is ultimately your decision. You should be making informed decisions about which healthcare facility or providers will be involved in your care. There is not obligation to attend any healthcare facility recommended by your insurer.

What will my first visit be like?

On your first visit, we will evaluate your function, pain, severity of injury, and prescribe the appropriate treatment program. We can help with all aspects of treatment, including filling out paper work, claim submission, imaging, and medical services as required. You may also start your physical therapy on your first visit.

Will I have physical therapy on my first visit?

Our doctor and therapists will typically initiate some form of therapy on the first visit.

Who will pay for my treatment?

Under the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, it is mandatory to exhaust your workplace health insurance prior to your auto insurance being. If you do not have extended health benefits through your workplace, or have exhausted these benefits, your auto insurance will fully cover the remainder of your treatment often for a minimum of 12 weeks. Our staff will help provide you with the necessary information to coordinate payments from your insurance providers.

I feel very anxious, nervous and stressed since the accident. How can I get help?

A motor vehicle accident can be one of the most traumatic events in a person's life, both from a physical perspective and an emotional perspective. Our team of specialist possess the necessary expertise to help make this entire experience a less traumatic one. With appropriate therapy and education, the feelings of anxiety, nervousness and stress diminish. If symptoms persist, we can refer you to our staff psychologist for further evaluation or treatment.

Since my car accident, I am unable to drive to get the therapy. Can you provide me with courtesy transportation?

Depending on the patient’s conditions, we can provide courtesy transportation within the GTA. That includes a round trip to our clinic and back home.

I was so badly hurt after my accident that my doctor has advised me not to leave my house for the next few weeks. Can a doctor or therapist to visit me at home?

Yes. Our doctors and therapist will do home visits for seriously injured patients.

Can I get help getting X-rays, an MRI or CT scan?

Yes, we do provide referrals to our patients for specialized tests and examinations.

After my car accident, I received therapy at another clinic and they discharged me. I still have pain. Can your clinic help?

Yes, our facility offers continuation of treatment.

I was a pedestrian/bicyclist that was hit by a car? How can I make an insurance claim?

Our claim team will take appropriate steps to put through a claim to a responsible insurer.

I had a car accident outside on Ontario? Can I still make a claim?

Yes, in most cases you can make an accident benefits claim while having a motor vehicle accident outside of Ontario.

I have a chronic pain after my accident that doesn’t go away. How can I get help?

Our facility offers a wide range of chronic appropriate chronic pain treatment.

My family doctor said I might need to see a specialist for my neck and back injury that I suffered in the car accident. Can you send me to a specialist?

Yes, depending on your injuries, we can referrer you to an appropriate specialist.

My family was involved in a car accident. Do you accept kids or minors as patients?

Yes, we accept new patients who are minors.

I got injured on a city bus. How can I get help?

Our facility offers therapy those who were injured on a public transportation.

I was a passenger in a car when the accident happened and I don’t have my own insurance. How can I make a claim?

Our staff will take appropriate steps to put through a claim to the appropriate and responsible insurer.

I was at fault in the accident. Am I allowed to make a claim?

Whether you are at fault or not at fault you are entitled to treatment and benefits from your insurance company.

I was injured in an accident while I was in a taxi. How can I make a claim?

Our facility offers therapy those who were injured on public transportation or taxi. Our staff will take appropriate steps to put through a claim to the appropriate and responsible insurer.

I was driving a rented car when I was injured in an accident. Am I eligible to receive treatment?

Yes, all rental vehicles and their passengers are insured.

My elderly relative was in an accident. What kind of help can you provide to elderly patients or patients in poor health?

Depending in the health condition of the patient, our doctors and/or therapists may provide in home visits. We also provide out patients with wheelchair transportation if necessary as well as courtesy transportation to our clinic and back home.
